The 2013 Junior Championship Tour on the West Coast begins Saturday in San Francisco. Over 250 participants in the boys and girls categories are competing for the elite Junior-level title at the San Francisco Bay Club, the Olympic Club, and the University Club of San Francisco.
This year’s tournament is the largest west coast tournament to date with 272 participants spread amongst the u19, u17, u15, u13, and u11 categories, topping last year’s total of 244.
Players prepare to face stiff competition in the highest level of junior competition with full draws of thirty-two in the Boys u13, u15, and u17 and Girls u13 and u15 categories. Each full draw is limited in size to the top-ranked players who registered for the tournament to allow players to experience the excitement of a national competition.
“As a part of the Junior Championship Tour, we are pleased to be hosting this event on the west coast at three world class facilities in the Bay Area,” said Dan Heinrich, Tournament Director and Director of Junior Development at U.S. Squash.
“We look forward to seeing the country’s best battle it out in the west.”
JCT tournaments contribute to the selection of U.S. Junior teams to represent the U.S. at world events.
The West Coast Junior Championship Tour is the fourth of five JCT tournaments U.S. Squash runs every season. The final JCT tournament will be held in Massachusetts February 16-18.
