American No. 3 Olivia Blatchford notched her second Women’s Squash Association victory in two weeks during Wednesday’s Irish Open round of sixteen.
Blatchford, world No. 57, traveled across the Irish Sea to Dublin for the $15,000 Irish Open this week where she slotted into the main draw against seventh-seeded world No. 44 Lisa Camilleri.
Blatchford stormed past the thirty-one-year-old Australian in twenty-two minutes 11-6, 11-7, 11-6, to earn a spot in Thursday’s quarterfinals where she faces Irish national champion and world No. 8 Madeline Perry in the first encounter of their careers.
The twenty-one-year-old from Wilton, Connecticut, notched her first WSA win since December last week when she defeated world No. 67 Antonella Falcione during the $10,000 Courtcare Open in Chorley, England.
All Irish Open matches are streaming live with Blatchford and Perry’s match scheduled to take place at 1:00pm EST.
