The US Squash Board of Directors has recently approved the nomination of two candidates to serve as Class 3 members of the board beginning July 1, 2014. The two nominees are John A. Fry and Praveen Kankariya. Fry, a current Class 3 member of the board, was recently elected Chairman of the Board pursuant to By‐law ARTICLE VIII, OFFICERS, Section 2,” Chair of the Board,” and therefore due to these special circumstances was re-nominated to serve a second Class 3 term pursuant to Article VII, BOARD OF DIRECTORS, Section 8, “Limited Terms.”
Kankariya was also recently added to the board pursuant to ARTICLE VII, BOARD OF DIRECTORS, Section 20, “Interim Vacancies,” to fill the interim Class 3 vacancy created upon completion of Peter Lasusa’s term as Chairman of the Board, effective July 1, 2013, and ending June 30, 2014. Pursuant to ARTICLE VII, BOARD OF DIRECTORS, Section 5 “Composition,” and upon the recommendation of the Nominating and Governance Committee after due consideration, review and approval in accordance with ARTICLE IX, Section 10(1), the Board of Directors have duly nominated Kankariya for election to the board in accordance with ARTICLE IV, Section 1 of the By-laws.
In accordance with ARTICLE IV, the Association hosts an Annual Meeting of the Members, the primary purpose of which is to elect Directors duly nominated by the Board upon recommendation by the Nominating and Governance Committee to fill any vacancies on the Board, as well as to consider any other business brought before the membership.
Announced previously, the Annual Meeting of the Members will be conducted at the 2013 Delaware Investments U.S. Open Squash Championships, on Saturday, October 12, at 10:00am ET. The meeting will serve as the official election to the Board of Directors of the Nominating and Governance Committee recommended, Board-nominated, candidates.
Since 2009, the Board of Directors has offered the membership the opportunity to assign a proxy online for the election. The process will be facilitated by the independent Board of Review and will commence the week of October 7.
