2017 U.S. Middle School Team Squash Championships top seeds Baldwin School and Brunswick School claimed their second and fifth national titles, respectively, this weekend at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.
Baldwin entered as the defending girls’ division I champions, and held off a semifinal challenge from seven-time champions Greenwich Academy to reach the final 4-1. In the final, the Bears defeated 2012 finalists Greenwich Country Day School 4-1 to capture their second consecutive national title.
In the boys’ division I, Brunwick pulled off a perfect tournament with four, 5-0 victories to claim the Bruin’s first middle school national title in five years and fifth title in program history. Brunswick defeated defending champions, Haverford, in the semifinals, before completing the perfect tournament run against the Episcopal Academy in the final.
In the boys’ division II, Shipley School upset the seeding to win the program’s first division II title, defeating Belmont Hill 3-2 in the final. New Haven locals, East Rock, defeated Greenwich Academy Gold 3-2 to win the girls’ division II final.
In the boys’ division III, the Meadowbrook School of Weston didn’t drop a match, including a 5-0 final win against Bronxville C to win the division title.
2017 marked the tenth edition of the U.S. Middle School Team Squash Championships.
