November 2013

Dear Friends,

The Briggs Cup continues to be one of the premiere pro doubles squash tournaments, boasting the largest purse and attracting the world’s best players. It is also a major fundraiser for CitySquash, the Fordham University-based urban squash program that serves 150 Bronx youth. To date, CitySquash has placed 46 students into private high schools, sent 33 students to college, and produced three collegiate squash captains and one All-American. Briggs Cup supporters have played a key role in the growth of CitySquash and the successes of its students.

This year’s Briggs Cup will feature a three pro-am draws alongside the men’s and women’s pro competition. Matches will begin on Friday, December 13th and will conclude with the finals on Monday, December 16th. If you have any questions about the event, or would like to pledge a contribution, please contact Terence Li at or 718-220-7400.

To reduce the administrative burden on CitySquash, U.S. Squash has again generously offered to handle the finances for the event, including processing the donations and paying the prize purse and other expenses. Donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law and proceeds from the event will benefit CitySquash. We are grateful for U.S. Squash continued support of CitySquash.

Donations of all amounts are welcome. Patron levels, which provide entry into one of the pro-am draws, are Benefactor ($25, 000), Title ($15, 000), Champion ($10, 000), Leader ($5, 000), Founder ($2, 500), and Platinum ($1, 000). If you wish to support the Briggs Cup, please send a check to the address below, making the check out to ‘U.S. Squash’ and noting ‘Briggs Cup’ in the memo. We can think of no better way to honor our friend Peter Briggs and acknowledge his contributions to squash than by showcasing the sport he loves for the benefit of CitySquash. We hope you will join us in making this year’s tournament the most successful Briggs Cup yet.

See you at the courts!
