Defending Champions Aim for Repeat Titles at Mixed Doubles

Five defending champions will aim for repeat titles at the fifty-first U.S. Mixed Doubles Championships, May 17-19, at the University Club of Boston.

After winning her maiden Mixed Open title last year with Hamed Anvari, California’s Shirin Kaufman returns to defend her title with a new partner, William Hartigan, and leads the eight-team draw as the top seeds. College players Ryan Mullaney and Sabrina Sobhy oppose them as the two seeds in search of their first mixed national titles.

Charlie Humber & Mary Belknap McKee will aim for their second consecutive Mixed 40+ national title as the top seeds with Christina Brownell and Doug Lifford slotting into the four-team round robin as the two seeds.

Colorado’s Sara Luther & David Posner return as the Mixed 50+ top seeds in search of a second straight title. Luther could tally her third Mixed 50+ title since winning her first in 2014 with Thomas Harrity.
