PHILADELPHIA, August 7, 2014 — US Squash is pleased to announce that Delaware Investments, title sponsor of the U.S. Open Squash Championships since 2011, has signed on for two more years through 2015. This year’s tournament will take place at its long-term home in the Daskalakis Athletic Center on the campus of Drexel University, October 9-18, in Philadelphia, PA.
The most prestigious squash tournament in the United States, the Delaware Investments U.S. Open Squash Championships became the only World Series professional squash tournament in the world to offer equal prize money for both male and female players in 2013 and was honored by the Women’s Squash Association as its Tournament of the Year. The Championship is also one of just seven events on the men’s Professional Squash Association World Series tour.
“We appreciate the continued support Delaware Investments demonstrates by extending their relationship with the U.S. Open and US Squash for an additional two years,” said US Squash President and CEO Kevin Klipstein. “They have played a major role in developing the U.S. Open into one of the most prestigious squash events worldwide, and in doing so have enhanced their reputation as a leading asset management firm.”
“We’re honored to be part of a sport that embodies several of our core values at Delaware Investments—discipline, concentration, and preparation, just to name a few. But we’re particularly proud to sponsor this tournament because it also represents fairness and gender equality,” said Patrick Coyne, president of Delaware Investments.
