US Squash to Re-launch Regional Squads in Spring
US Squash announced it will re-launch the popular Junior Squads program this spring, with extensive enhancements in support of the growth of squash regionally.
Regular development squads will take place in regional locations across the country in order to extend the reach of the National Team program and draw from the broadest base of talent, increase access to the National Team experience regionally, and develop an elite player continuum from juniors, to college players, to professionals and adults.
Between April and June, groups of elite players will meet several times with National Team coaches for one-day training sessions. The dates under consideration include April 13, May 4, May 11, May 18 and June 8. Each region will likely host three squads in the spring.
The Regional Squads will culminate in the Ontario-American Challenge taking place in August. In addition, U.S. Junior National Team players competing in the 2013 World Junior Squash Championships will gather for a National Squad Week at the end of June.
