2019 National Singles champions John Musto and Michael Gough continued their successful spring across the pond in England, where both players earned British Open Masters titles Sunday, May 26, at the University of Hull.

Musto, a men’s 50+ player, earned his first career British Open Masters title having entered the thirty-two-player draw as a 5/8 seed. Musto upset the two seed in three games in the quarterfinals, and another 5/8 seed in the semis to set up a final against top-seeded Englishman Phil Yerby.

In the final, Musto came back from 2-1 down to clinch the title 11-9, 5-11, 7-11, 11-5, 11-3 in forty-one minutes.

Gough entered the eight-player men’s 80+ draw as the top seed since aging up for the first time at the British Open Masters. Gough claimed the title without dropping a game, including a 15-5, 15-12, 15-3 final win over reigning World Masters champion Lance Kinder.

Gough celebrates his third British Masters title, adding two his back-to-back 2015 and 2016 75+titles.
