Princeton Day School Seeks Resident Squash Professional

Princeton Day School, a co-ed Pre-K through 12 independent school in Princeton, NJ seeks a Resident Squash Professional to grow a multi-faceted squash program for its student body.

This is a full-time,10-month position. The Resident Squash Professional will be responsible for the continuing development of the competitive squash program in the Middle and Upper Schools as well as build out developmental opportunities for Lower School students.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coach Upper School Varsity team
  • Assist the Director of Squash in coaching and developing the Middle School teams
  • Assist in hiring additional coaches for the Middle School and Varsity teams as needed
  • Develop and teach squash curriculum as part of Physical Education program to Middle and Lower School students
  • Coach Middle and Lower School “Instructional Squash” programs in the fall and spring; run one developmental squash clinic for each division per season
  • Develop and implement summer and holiday camps/clinics
  • Offer private lessons and other training opportunities
  • Attend all practices and matches
  • Promote a positive attitude, academic achievement, and personal growth
  • Meet with admissions applicants interested in squash; attend admissions events when appropriate
  • Assist student-athletes in the college recruiting process
  • Play an active role in hosting 1-3 US Junior Squash tournaments on campus per year

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of two years of experience coaching/instructing squash or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Previous experience building a squash program by establishing consistent philosophies and teaching methods for all teams and coaches is highly preferred
  • Mastery of tactical concepts appropriate for competitive high school play is required
  • Previous experience organizing and directing out-of-season training programs, camps and clinics highly preferred
  • Outstanding organizational, motivational, and communication skills highly preferred
  • Ability to effectively work with students, staff, administration, and parents
  • Ability to work in conjunction with Athletic Trainer to ensure that student-athletes receive proper medical and physical training services
  • Ability to maintain and consistently exemplify the highest standards of professionalism, leadership, sportsmanship and respect
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
