The Sacred Heart Varsity B and St. Paul’s Boys’ JV squads won the inaugural U.S. Interscholastic Team Squash Championships Saturday, February 15 at the Nicol Squash Club at Moses Brown School in Providence, Rhode Island.
St. Paul’s, of New Hampshire, won all three of their encounters without dropping a game, defeating runners up Tabor Academy in the decisive team match. Greenwich, Connecticut’s Sacred Heart only dropped one game all tournament, defeating St. Paul’s Girls’ JV team 7-1 in the final.
The National Interscholastics took shape this season due to the rapid growth of scholastic squash over the past decade. The tournament presents a fun and competitive opportunity on the national level for high school squash programs with second or third tier teams such as Junior Varsity, Varsity B or C squads. The tournament is planned to continue its expansion in the 2020-2021 season.
