About the Position

Steel City Squash and Chatham University are seeking a driven, innovative Head Squash Coach with a passion for supporting students. This position will oversee the development and implementation of a rigorous squash and fitness program for Steel City Squash, as well as the foundation and development of an intercollegiate squash program at Chatham University.

This position is not just a coaching job!


  • Facilitate daily after-school squash and fitness sessions for up to 50 students, managing volunteers and coaching individual students
  • Develop and implement long-term squash and fitness curriculum with standards to track
  • Manage US Squash memberships for all students as well as ClubLocker profiles, scoring, ladders,
  • Manage student enrollment in National Urban Squash and Education Association (NUSEA) sanctioned events and travel with students to those events
  • Work closely with staff to coordinate monthly matches and tournaments
  • Oversee squash uniform and equipment inventory/maintenance
  • Run 5 weeks of intensive summer squash program and coordinate opportunities with

other squash-related summer programs

  • Network with other organizations, squash clubs and other services to refer students and provide opportunities
  • Collaborate on program-wide initiatives and projects
  • Support students in their athletic, academic, and personal growth through programming and relationship-building


  • Significant experience playing and coaching squash; in particular, group and clinic based coaching for beginner to intermediate level players
  • US Squash Coaching Certificate, Level 1 a plus
  • Experience with organizing and running multi-level squash tournaments – Tournament Director Certificate a plus
  • Excellent writing, research, and computer skills
  • Project management, interpersonal, organizational and networking skills critical
  • Experience working with students in an academic capacity a plus
  • Sensitivity to different cultures and communities with a commitment to youth development
  • Valid drivers license and comfort/capacity to drive a 15 passenger bus
