Team USA concluded the 2017 Pan American Championships with a total of five bronze medals, including two in the team competition, September 6-9, at the Tortugas Country Club in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The U.S. went in to the team competition having earned three bronze medals: Chris Gordon in the men’s individual draw, Mariam Kamal & Haley Mendez in the women’s doubles draw and Chris Hanson & Faraz Khan in the men’s doubles draw.

The individual and doubles results gave the U.S. men’s team a 3/4 seeding in the team tournament, while the women entered the team competition unseeded. In pool play, the U.S. men topped Group C with wins against Chile and the Dominican Republic. In Group A, the U.S. women lost against top seeds Mexico 2-0, but upset 3/4 seeds Argentina 3-0 to place second in the group.

The U.S. women solidified the bronze medal with a 2-0 victory over Chile in the quarterfinal knock out rounds, before losing 2-0 against eventual champions Mexico in the semifinals.

The U.S. men reached the semifinals courtesy with a 3-0 win over 5/8 seeds, the Cayman Islands. In the semis against two seeds Mexico, the U.S. fell short 2-1 despite a victory from Chris Hanson.
