US Squash Leadership Development Internship Program Expands in 2019

With squash on a growth trajectory and a high demand for talented young leaders in the sport, US Squash will offer summer 2019 leadership development internship program opportunities in partnership with Portland Community Squash, the Merion Cricket Club and the Boars Head Inn. The expansion to three locations builds on the success of the inaugural 2018 program in partnership with Portland Community Squash.

Portland Community Squash (PCS) is a leader in the community squash movement by operating one of the country’s first mixed-use squash and education facilities in Portland, ME. Its programs combine the best aspects of membership-based models, local school programs, and the squash + education alliance framework. All programs are intentionally diverse and accessible to all members of the Portland community. In the first year of operations, PCS brought on 215 members, 200 students, and generated $1M of revenue.

Merion Cricket Club (MCC) is one of the oldest full service, private racquet clubs in the country. With a rich history in the U.S. squash community, MCC continues to excel on the national and international stage. MCC provides facilities and programming that keep its professional staff busy year-round with a dynamic membership that includes singles and doubles players across all age groups.

The McArthur Squash Center is one of the world’s best squash facilities—a 16-court, 33,000-square-foot venue available to Boar’s Head Sports Club members and guests. Shared by the University of Virginia and its varsity squash teams, the McArthur Squash Center also serves players of all skill levels.
